Celebrating 40 Years of Inclusive Employment at Macca’s

17 December 2025

This International Day of People with Disability, McDonald’s Australia is proud to celebrate 40 years of partnership with Jobsupport, Australia’s leading employment service for people with intellectual disabilities. We also recognise the dedicated crew members who deliver great customer experiences every day, reflecting our long-standing commitment to creating workplaces that represent the communities we serve.

Since 1986, Macca’s has partnered with Jobsupport to break barriers, helping to create meaningful and rewarding careers by opening our doors to everyone. Today, that commitment is stronger than ever, with nearly a hundred talented crew members across the country helping us deliver great experiences for customers and teams alike.

Honouring our crew

We are thrilled to be recognised at the 2025 Jobsupport Awards, officiated by the Hon. Tanya Plibersek MP. McDonald’s Australia, our franchisees, and our crew received 18 serviceawards, including recognition for McDonald’s as a pioneer in disability workforce inclusion. A highlight of the event was recognition for crew members who’ve been with us for decades – true champions of loyalty and dedication, like Rabab.

Meet Rabab

This year’s Jobsupport Awards celebrated the long-standing dedication of our crew including Rabab, a proud McDonald’s Broadmeadows crew member who’s been part of the Macca’s family for 13 years.

Rabab says her favourite part of the job is simple: “I love interacting with customers and meeting new people every day. Helping new crew members feel at home at Macca’s and putting smiles on their faces makes me happy too!”

Outside of work, Rabab enjoys spending time with family, catching a great Netflix series, and listening to music. She’s one of many crew members employed by McDonald’s and our franchisees in partnership with Jobsupport who bring energy, warmth, and dedication to Macca’s restaurants across the country.

Inclusion at Macca’s

Emma Napoli-Hala, Chief People Officer at McDonald’s Australia said: “In Australia, one in five people live with a disability, and for us, inclusion isn’t just the right thing, it’s essential to creating workplaces that reflect the communities we serve.

“For 40 years, our partnership with our franchisees and Jobsupport has shown the power of inclusive employment to create meaningful careers and strengthen team culture. We’re proud that nearly a hundred talented crew members employed in partnership with Jobsupport are proving every day that inclusion makes us better. Rabab’s story is just one example of the pride and value they bring to their teams and to our customers’ experience.”

Phil Tuckerman, Jobsupport CEO and Founder said: “Jobsupport’s partnership with McDonald's over 40 years has made a big difference to many lives.

McDonald's began employing while Jobsupport was still a demonstration project, funded to explore what was possible. McDonald's pioneering commitment opened the door to employment for thousands of people with an intellectual disability.”

A huge thank you to Jobsupport for our incredible and ongoing partnership, and congratulations to all our award winners
