MCDONALD’S AUSTRALIA CEO KICKS OFF YEAR OF VALUE - WITH 12-MONTH PRICE PROMISE ON MCSMART MEAL AND LOOSE CHANGE MENU

Today, the CEO of McDonald’s Australia, Joe Chiczewski, has reconfirmed Macca’s commitment to providing exceptional value to Australian customers by announcing a price promise on some of the company's most popular menu items.
Aussies have been doing it tough over the past five years, with increasing inflation, rates and rising cost-of-living pressures putting strain on household budgets. Even now Aussies remain cautious, with 43% deliberately searching out the best value deals and looking for savings on small indulgences, such as eating out.
In response to these ongoing financial challenges, Mr Chiczewski has reiterated McDonald’s commitment to value by pledging a price promise on its McSmart Meal and Loose Change Menu for the next 12 months across all 1,050 restaurants nationwide - despite inflation and broader economic pressures.

We’ve been the home of value since we opened our first restaurant in Australia in 1971. Back then, Aussies could enjoy one of our iconic hamburgers for just 20 cents. More than 50 years later, a lot has changed, but one thing hasn’t - our commitment to value.
In today’s cost-of-living climate, we know the promise of value matters more than ever to our fans across Australia.
My commitment to Australian customers is clear, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, you can count on us for great value at Macca’s. Which is why we’re kicking off a year of value with a 12-month price promise on our McSmart Meal and Loose Change Menu.
The McSmart Meal has delivered a new kind of value. For under $7, Aussie customers can get two burgers, fries and a drink - that’s less than what customers would have paid nearly five years ago, pre-COVID. It's a value meal that has unbeatable value (trust us, we’ve looked, and nothing else comes close).
It’s also available at every single one of our locations nationwide, whether you’re dining in, driving-thru, or ordering through the MyMacca’s app. No gimmicks, no catches, just real McDonald's value.
We also know that our customers want choice, so with the McSmart, if you don't feel like two burgers, you can change your side to three nuggets or a sundae.
Another great way to unlock incredible value at Macca’s is through our Loose Change Menu. The Loose Change Menu has been a feature on the Macca’s menu for more than 10 years, and we’re incredibly proud of its reputation as a reliable value promise to our customers.
The new-look Loose Change Menu, launched in September last year, was designed with customer feedback in mind.
The Loose Change Menu offers eight menu favourites from $4 and under, including $4 Sausage McMuffins, $2 Hamburgers, Frozen Cokes from $1, and of course the iconic 50 cent soft serve cone.
The soft serve is always a customer talking point and a huge favourite in my family – with four of us, that’s just $2 to enjoy a family treat.
We know customers are loving the McSmart and Loose Change Menu. In fact, on average we sell more than 600,000 McSmart Meals a week and 1 in 5 customers add a Loose Change Item to their order with every visit.
Like many Australian businesses, we’ve experienced rising costs over the past five years, driven by inflation and other economic factors. And yes, that means some of our menu prices have increased - we’re not denying this. However, our focus and commitment remain unchanged - keeping our menu as accessible and affordable as possible for our customers.
Our price promise on the McSmart Meal and Loose Change Menu is at the core of this commitment and ensures we can keep serving up Macca’s favourites for less.
Of course, the McSmart and Loose Change Menu are not the only way to get great value. We are always looking to surprise and delight our loyal MyMacca’s customers. Since launching in 2022, we have more than 3 million monthly active users, making us the number one loyalty program in QSR.
Through MyMacca’s, customers can earn points, access weekly personalised deals, and unlock birthday rewards. Over the past 12 months, Aussie customers have redeemed nearly 30 million free or discounted items, including 11 million McCafé coffees.
