Australia gets ready to celebrate McHappy Day with under one week to go
14 November 2022
14 November 2022: With less than five days to go, Macca’s is calling on Aussies to get involved in McHappy Day this Saturday 19 November.
McHappy Day is the largest annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). It raises much needed funds to help seriously ill or injured children and their families stay together and close to the care they need, while undergoing treatment or surgery in hospital.
Aussies can support McHappy Day by:
-
Picking up a pair of $5 Silly Socks or Helping Hands for $2, $10 or $50 from Macca’s restaurants nationwide or via McDelivery
-
Buying a Big Mac on McHappy Day from McDonald’s restaurants or via McDelivery, with $2 from every Big Mac sold going directly to RMHC
-
Making a donation online by visiting www.rmhc.org.au/give
Amanda Nakad, Marketing Director for McDonald’s Australia said, “For over three decades, McHappy Day has helped raise over $61 million to keep families with seriously ill and injured children together. We couldn’t have done this without the support of local communities and customers across Australia.
“Aussies can get involved in McHappy Day again this year to raise vital funds and make a real difference to the lives of these children and their families.”
Barbara Ryan, Chief Executive Officer for Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia said, “We’re beyond grateful to those who have already shown their support and donated to this year’s McHappy Day.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities supports over 46,000 seriously ill or injured children and their families every year. The funds raised will go towards continuing to support families when they need it most, including providing a home away from home when their seriously ill or injured child is receiving treatment.”

About Ronald McDonald House Charities:
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent charity that helps over 46,000 seriously ill or injured children and their families each year.
The cornerstone Program of RMHC, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a ‘home away from home’ for families of seriously ill or injured children being treated at nearby hospitals. The Ronald McDonald Houses keep families
close by giving parents and siblings the opportunity to stay together to support their sick loved ones. RMHC currently has 18 Ronald McDonald Houses throughout Australia and accommodated over 9,000 families in 2021.
Other Programs include the Ronald McDonald Family Room which provides a relaxing haven within hospitals giving families a break from the stress of many hours spent by their child’s bedside and the Ronald McDonald Learning Program which currently helps children catch up on missed schooling following a serious illness. In 2021, over 950 students received tuition through the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.
Additionally, The Ronald McDonald Family Retreat provides families with seriously ill children a week’s free accommodation at one of five Ronald McDonald Family Retreats across Australia, enabling them to reconnect and enjoy a holiday when they most need it.
