Australia’s not like the rest of the world. So neither is our McDonald’s. See some of the twists and turns we’ve taken on the road to becoming Macca’s.
It’s what Australia ordered.

BEETROOT.... IN
A BURGER?
Nobody else in the world seems to understand Aussies’ weird obsession with beetroot. Which is why no other countries get the McOz burger.
We introduced the world to this culinary sensation at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
100% HOMEGROWN
We make all McDonald’s patties with 100% Aussie beef. We’d be silly not to, as Australia has some of the best beef in the world. But we didn’t stop there - we were the first of our competitors to beef up the menu with 100% Angus patties.
GOOD NEIGHBOURS
Everybody needs ‘em. And our franchisees are always making changes here and there to look out for their neighbours.
Like the owner of our Williamtown store - he noticed his customers’ tyres needed pumping up after driving in the dunes, so he installed an air pump.
FROM OUR PLACE TO YOURS
Imagine having your favourite combo
from the comfort of your lounge.
Aussies wanted it. And we delivered it. McDelivery. Coming soon to a suburb near you.
AUSSIE SUGAR RULES
Aussies are always changing the rules - we did it with rugby and we did it with the McDonald's bun recipe. We reduced the sugar in burger buns across the country - and it even caught on overseas.
iSTRALIA
When it comes to new technology, Aussies are early adopters. We’re natural tappers, swipers and surfers. So we introduced mobile ordering - a whole restaurant in your pocket. Then there’s our fast and free WiFi and touchscreen kiosks.
No hover-thru just yet though.
